Afro Continental Airways, Lockheed Super Constellation, VP-WAW June 1973

Being prepared for the weekly scheduled return flight to Windhoek in South West Africa. The Air Trans Africa (parent company) hangar was to the right. Note New Sarum in the background with a number of Douglas C47 Dakota aircraft. The classic view of this wonderful airliner, 'VP-WAW' is reported in the book 'Shadows', see book review, as being cn4685, previously 'ZS-FAA' and 'TR-LNY' when it was used for Biafra arms flights in the 1960s. See previous photographs for other details.
