Air Trans Africa Douglas DC7F - TR-LNY - February 1972.

This aircraft was returning to Salisbury from an overseas trip and flew low over the Salisbury Control Tower about midday, note the starboard outer engine has been feathered, quite normal for these aircraft, I presume the reason was to see if there was any damage to the underneath of the wing, caused by fire? The aircraft landed safely. This is one of the 'Affretair' group owned aircraft, in Rhodesia they were known as Air Trans Africa. Mike Draper the author of 'Shadows' does not list this aircraft as being used for the Biafra War arms airlift, it carries the registration once used by the Super Constellation 'VP-WAW'.
