South African Airways Boeing 727. ZS-SBE. Salisbury, June 1973.
The Affretair DC8 is taking off in the background from 06, New Sarum.
The Rhodesian Air Force base is to be seen with a number of Douglas C47s and Canberras on view.

Salisbury was not a busy airport, it was nice to be able to have a photo with the Affretair DC8 'TR-LQR' taking off for one of its regular flights to Europe, loaded with Rhodesian produce being sold in contravention to the sanctions imposed by the United Nations. It is interesting to note that these days, even with many years of human rights abuses, political murders, rigged elections, the Mugabe government in modern day Zimbabwe is free to trade what little is produced in the country with whoever they like, arms imports of course being high on the list in order to control the people of Zimbabwe.
