Autair Bell 47G 'VP-YVZ' outside the new Autair Hangar during February 1971.

I had a flight in this helicopter later on in 1971, note the enclosed rear boom, usually open in this type showing the tubular structure. Autair were mainly involved with aerial crop spraying with contracts within Rhodesia as well as neighbouring Mozambique, That is my 1952 Morris MM behind! Not much power out of an 850cc side valve engine at 5,000 feet above sea level! That is how high Salisbury Airport was/is<

One of the pilots told me of a close shave he had whilst buzzing an elephant in Mozambique, when there were many in that country, before they were all killed, the Elephant not surprisingly took exception to the attentions of the helicopter, it picked up a large tree branch and threw it at the helicopter, the pilot swore that the branch passed through the rotor blades.
