Supermarine Spitfire Mk.22 'SR65'
Thornhill, Rhodesian Air Force Base, Gwelo. 8th October 1972.

This is the second of the Spitfires saved and displayed at Thornhill Air Force base, Gwelo. Note the different stand, it has been incorrectly reported that this is the aircraft displayed at New Sarum, I took this photograph on the 8th October 1972 during the RhAF Air Show. At the time it did not carry its number and the roundels did not have the RhAF 'Lion' in the centre. Last reported it was on display at the Zimbabwe Military Museum, Gweru (Gwelo).
