Rhodesian Air Force Douglas C47 Dakota.
'Chaminuka' (rainmaker) R7307
After a sortie in January 1973, Flt.Lt.Holshausen was the captain. The aircraft was based at New Sarum.

This aircraft was used extensively for rainmaking trials in the early 1970s. These two 'burners' were installed to burn a silver iodide/acetone mix to produce crystals whilst flying through a suitable cloud, the intention was that these crystals would form the nucleus of a raindrop thus inducing the cloud to release its moisture onto the parched land below, it does work!
