Avro Shackleton 'Q' '1723' 35 Squadron SAAF On take-off from the grass runway at DF Malan Airport, January 1973. Always a wonderful sight and sound to witness these aircraft flying, they were used for Maritime patrols.

This aircraft was first flown on the 10th February 1958 and ferried to South Africa in the same month. After it was grounded in November 1977, having come to the end of its fatigue life it was stored for a while before being sold and it now sits on top of Vic's Viking Garage, Johannesburg
